JOB SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials/Purchasing Manager to join our team. As a Materials/Purchasing Manager at KAM Plastics, you will ensure that plant operations have the materials needed to meet all customer expectations, including on-time delivery and quality. You will also drive continuous improvement in the financial success of the operations by managing finished goods, WIP and raw inventory levels. This position provides daily leadership and support for shipping, receiving, purchasing, scheduling, and resource planning while also assisting in the execution of tasks such as preparing orders, expediting deliveries, sourcing, and purchasing of items needed to support operations. Solicits and analyzes quotations for the purchases of materials and services that support current and future programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials management and possess excellent organizational and leadership skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages and monitors inventory levels, on-time delivery of raw materials & finished goods, and the procurement, receipt, and storage of raw materials.
- Champions projects to improve cost, quality, and delivery of materials throughout the value stream.
- Builds and maintains the master production schedule by utilizing input from sales forecasts, customer demand, material availability and equipment capacity.
- Sets goals for inventory levels and monitors performance. Reviews, identifies, and minimizes obsolete inventory.
- Monitors and evaluates customer schedules, supplier schedules, logistic routes, and shipping attainment.
- Provides operational & managerial leadership for functional department.
- Assists in the preparation of departmental budgets and strategic initiatives.
- Procure purchased components, raw materials, tooling, and capital equipment from suppliers at the lowest total cost, considering of quality, delivery, and reliability of source.
- Maintain knowledge of market conditions, sources of supply, procurement laws and regulations.
- Lead supplier development efforts and build relationships with current and potential suppliers to meet delivery, price, and quality requirements.
- Participate in supplier quality resolution, including planning for replacement components, returning defective components and monitoring parts in NCM area for disposition.
- Solicit and analyze quotes from suppliers for materials required to support operational needs.
- Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in materials/purchasing management or equivalent.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with computers, ERP systems, MRP and their applications.
- Proven ability to lead teams and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
