Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in related field
Valid Texas teacher certificate
Supervisor or Mid-Management Certificate preferred
Valid Diagnostician’s certificate
Three years successful classroom or school related experience
Ability to work with school and community population
Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledgeable of federal and state special education rules and regulations
Three years Diagnostician experience
Primary Purpose:
Work directly under the supervision of Director for Special Education. Provide leadership and support to Diagnostic Specialists in providing quality Special Education appraisal services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to district Diagnostic Specialists.
- Recommend testing materials to be purchased and assigned to Diagnostic Specialists.
- Assist in the support and training of newly employed appraisal personnel.
- Assist in the review and revision of Special Education forms, procedures and guidelines.
- Train Diagnostic Specialists in administration and interpretation of test instruments.
- Attend campus staffing and ARD meetings as needed.
- Assist and support campus personnel on assessment related issues.
- Assist in coordinating and administering summer assessments.
- Attend trainings to develop and enhance assessment skills and bring information back to share.
- Ensure district compliance related to the appraisal process and IEP development.
- Plan, prepare, conduct and facilitate Diagnostic Specialists meetings/trainings and technical assistance.
- Schedule and conduct onsite campus visits and student folder reviews.
- Assist in appraising Diagnostic Specialists and Diagnostic Clerks.
- Assist Director for Special Education with review of campus Special Education logs and collection of data related to compliance in the area of initial evaluations along with other required state indicators.
- Assist in verifying accuracy of PEIMS reports.
- Professionally and accurately communicate goals, expectations, and information during meetings on campus or within the department.

Personal computer, phone system, projector, DVD, recording devices
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, sitting for long periods, stopping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Ability to move small stacks of textbooks, audit folders, media equipment, desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Moderate lifting and carrying. Daily travel around the district.
