Job Summary
The Ranch/Barn Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the ranch and ensuring the health and wellness of the horses. This position requires a hands-on approach to managing feeding, cleaning, breeding, vaccines, vet appointments, and maintaining equipment and facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of equine health, pasture maintenance, and ranch management practices while demonstrating superb leadership skills.
Duties
- Oversee daily ranch operations including a small staff
- Feed horses, Clean stalls and pens, turn horses in and out from stalls to turnout areas; hand-walk horses, minor wound care, hold horse for farrier or vet
- Implement effective animal husbandry practices to ensure the health and welfare of all animals.
- Manage the maintenance and repair of farm machinery and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Utilize power tools and tractors safely for various tasks around the ranch.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and livestock to identify any issues or areas for improvement.
- Train and supervise staff in best practices for ranch operations, including safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of livestock health, equipment maintenance, and other essential data.
Skills
- Proficient in animal (mostly horses) handling techniques
- Experience with farm machinery operation and maintenance
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders involved in ranch operations.
- Ability to manage a small staff and oversee that daily tasks are done and animals are properly cared for
- Drive truck with trailer, CDL preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred
This position is ideal for individuals who come with equine knowledge and experience. Must be organised, detail oriented, punctual, responsible, and capable of delegating and managing various tasks and projects.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $3,800.00 - $5,000.00 per month
