The Human Resources Business Partner supports the administration of human resources policies and programs in the following functional areas: employee/labor relations, hourly staffing and employee orientation, leave administration (FMLA, STD, & LTD), attendance management and performance management. Provides HR support to managers and supervisors. The Human Resources Business Partner reports to the Human Resources Manager
Accountabilities
- Provide day to day HR support in functional HR areas to the organization. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Addressing employee questions/requests and complaints.
- Supporting the converting department, and other areas as requested, with attendance management.
- Providing back-up support in the administration of benefit programs and leaves of absence including FMLA, STD, and LTD.
- Providing HR support as part of the hourly orientation process.
- Provide assistance with labor relations issues including contract interpretation, hourly employee performance issues and disciplinary investigations. Will provide resolution of employee relations issues.
- Participate in projects, conflict resolution processes, recruitment and retention initiatives, layoff, discipline, and termination process.
- Create partnerships with line supervisors and team leaders while promoting positive employee and labor relations with mill employees.
- Serve as a source for legal and employment issues; ensuring compliance with federal, and local employment laws.
- Support policy development/updates, interpretation of collective agreements and development of HR solutions.
- Responsible for other projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in a related field (Human Resources or Business)
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience of related Human Resources Experience in a unionized manufacturing facility, preferably within the paper industry
- Strong human resource generalist background, preferably with direct experience supporting one or more Human Resource functions such as employee/labor relations, recruiting & selection, benefit administration, policy administration, etc.
- HRIS Systems, ADP, JD Edwards, Kronos preferred
- Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Plan and organize your own work activities, manage work time efficiently, work independently
- To have proven complex analytical skills as well as ability to develop sound recommendations and solutions
- Partner with managers and employees to positively impact business results
- Demonstrated accountability and responsibility for independent judgment and successful outcomes
- Computer systems ability including Microsoft Office and other applicable software and databases
