Requires a degree in Computer Science or related field w/min of 5yrs exper or equivalent combination of education & training. CLASS TITLE: SYSTEMS COORDINATOR GRADE: G15 DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FLSA STATUS: E REPORTS TO: IT ASSISTANT DIRECTOR DATE: 03/25 JOB SUMMARY: Analyzes, designs, installs, configures, administers, supports, and manages various network-based systems and infrastructure. Plans, coordinates, and implements security measures for all users of the intranet and Internet. Monitors the network to ensure availability to all system users and performs necessary maintenance. Responsible for Windows and Linux server operating systems, Microsoft End-Point Configuration Manager, VMWare and virtualization platforms and provides support for Active Directory, Exchange Online e-mail. Researches and recommends server hardware and software and technology. May assist in third-tier support for maintaining and supporting user level PCs hardware and software. May serve as a technical lead on projects involving implementation and maintenance of integrated applications, and installation of databases and servers. Coordinates information systems activities within the County and with outside agencies. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Leads the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of some applications, and middleware for assigned systems, which includes installing new software, new software releases and system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches, and conducting certain data migrations, refreshes and restores in collaboration with Applications Coordinators. Serves as the lead on assigned systems to architect, implement, enhance, and test systems to meet dynamic business needs. Performs complex configuration analyses, change management and testing activities to support the service-oriented architecture. Analyzes, installs, upgrades, maintains and troubleshoots the Countys server infrastructure using standard and specialized tools; maintains server hardware and firmware, installs and maintains various network peripherals. Researches and implements new technologies. Installs, implements and maintains security controls as appropriate including anti-virus and anti-spam software; provides security monitoring and audits of systems to ensure appropriate system(s) usage. Stays appraised of security landscape for supported applications and makes recommendations to ensure data security of County resources. Builds relationships with vendors to stay appraised of security needs and upcoming changes. Programs, installs, configures, upgrades, administrates, supports and manages various servers, systems and equipment; ensures compatibility for all software and hardware components throughout the County; monitors network traffic to ensure efficient functioning; provides appropriate system and user documentation for new and existing software applications. Installs and maintains current routine backups of the Countys data and meets requirements of disaster recovery plan. Analyzes and documents existing applications and recommends revisions and procedural changes; analyzes new applications and recommends procedures, software and hardware solutions; designs application and prepares an implementation plans; participates in the development and implementation of solutions. Assists IT leadership with budget by obtaining quotes and completing audits for license count and equipment costs. Provides training to IS staff on personal computers and network topics. May assist in maintaining and supporting user level PCs hardware and software. Provide assistance to County staff regarding software, hardware, and technical problems as requested; educates users and other I.S. staff to forestall reoccurrence of situation; evaluates and establishes effective user interface; enlists outside support or services as needed. Prepares and publishes Requests for Proposals or Bids for hardware/software packages and/or vendors; analyzes proposals and bids received; makes recommendations for award. Maintains and upgrades professional knowledge, skills, and development by attending seminars and training programs and reading trade and professional journals and publications in order to maintain highest level of information and telecommunications services and equipment for the County. Performs other related duties as assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is required. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Computers Servers General Office Equipment Personal Computers and peripherals Telecommunications equipment Scanners MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or technical degree/certification in electronics, telecommunications, management information systems, computer science or a related field; and Three to four years of progressively responsible related experience; or, Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Licenses and Certifications: A or similar certification Valid Drivers License KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: Server virtualization technologies, such as VMWare. Active Directory environments, and Azure Active Directory, group policy. Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) or other enterprise endpoint management systems. Enterprise-wide endpoint patching. Powershell scripting. Administration and maintenance of a server and virtualization environment in an enterprise setting. Experience administering Microsoft Office365 a plus. Generally accepted business practices and principles. Skill in: Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines. Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction. Applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols. Communicating clearly and effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals. Ability to comprehend, diagnose and resolve network, hardware and application problems. Ability to analyze complex problems and develop appropriate solutions. Ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality. Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional periodicals and journals, technical procedures, operation and maintenance instructions, and so forth. Ability to communicate highly technical information to non-technical users. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in a complex environment. Working Conditions and Physical Demands: The incumbent's working conditions are moderately quiet. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office and setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to verbally communicate to exchange information. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
