Key Responsibilities:
- Primary accountability is to maintain a noble gas mass spectrometer, a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer, an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer, and a stable isotope ratio mass spectrometer at baseline operational levels. When a mass spectrometer needs to be returned to baseline, this primary accountability will take precedence over other accountabilities, including supporting the functionality of other department research laboratories, mobilization or demobilization of field equipment, and innovation projects.
- Train university researchers on the use of a scanning electron microscope to promote consistent performance and quality; troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues; facilitate routine maintenance and calibration to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Provide logistical support for shipping and receiving for research needs; including requesting quotes, corresponding with shipping companies and agents, generating required labels and documents to accompany shipments, and assembling final shipments for pickup
- Generate test data using natural samples, with the goal to understand challenges and desired outcomes of sample analyses
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering or a related degree; Master's Degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering or a related degree preferred
- One to three years of related work experience
- Strong technical aptitude and hands-on experience with mass spectrometers and related laboratory equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
