Lincoln Families is partnering with Alameda Countys Black Infant Health (BIH) program which aims to empower pregnant and mothering Black women to make healthy choices for themselves and their children as well as build a community that stands up against the injustices towards African-American women and their birthing experiences. The BIH program aims to help reduce stress, build resilience, promote healthy behaviors, and increase social support. This position supports Alameda County BIHs Program Area 1, covering families who reside in West Oakland, Emeryville, North Oakland and South Berkeley.
POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the BIH Clinical Supervisor, the clinician is responsible for conducting the intake process, providing ongoing assessments, offering one-on-one support, and ensuring the team has a comprehensive understanding of the mental health needs of participants to deliver meaningful group support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitate the intake process.
- Obtain and complete necessary clinical records/documents within assigned time frames.
- Provide individual therapy; this includes ensuring culturally sensitive and relevant quality of care.
- Develop relationships with local mental health professionals, participate in group sessions, provide mental health education, and conduct trainings.
- Assess psychotherapeutic and case management needs related to women health and collaboratively develops a Life Plan.
- Develop and monitor working goals and objectives with measurable outcomes; complete outcome measurements within specified time lines.
- Provide crisis intervention when needed to children and families in collaboration with the treatment team.
- Develop agreed upon discharge plan and assess continuing care needs in collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor, participants, and BIH team.
- Participates in initial, ongoing, and final case conferences to discuss progress and coordinate care with the BIH team.
- Establish, provide, and facilitate coordinated care with various service providers, on behalf of and based on specific needs.
- Meet agency expectations regarding levels of direct service.
- Meet required deadlines for documentation.
- Participate in weekly supervision, individual and group, as assigned.
- Requires driving to various locations across Alameda County to deliver services at assigned office(s), in the community or via home visits; this may also include transporting BIH participants or families as needed (Clinician must maintain valid California drivers license, satisfactory driving record and personal vehicle insurance coverage).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Lived understanding of African American culture and history, and general working knowledge of family systems, community trauma, and community organizing or advocacy. Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to and competence in dealing with cultural and socioeconomic diversity of client population with proven success working with people with different perspectives and backgrounds. Genuine interest and passion for serving African American families, working within a team approach, and building resources. Demonstrated knowledge of provider systems, Womens health (prenatal and postpartum mental health), life course perspective, and the impact of psychosocial, cultural, and economic factors on health. Knowledge of trauma informed and culturally responsive interventions with African American women. Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills that promote success in cultivating relationships, maintaining professional boundaries, managing details, and making positive impact. Proven ability for complex problem-solving, planning, and conflict resolution with the ability to hold clinical needs of the BIH team. Must have ability to work collaboratively with members of interdisciplinary teams, seek out internal consultative resources as appropriate, and exhibit sound judgment that is aligned with Lincolns principles of care and values. Must have strong time management skills to manage all aspects of role; this includes having personal systems for tracking paperwork, managing tasks and meeting various deadlines.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- MSW, AMFT or MA/MS in relevant field from an accredited graduate school
- Current BBS registration as associate or BBS licensure
- 2 years of experience providing direct clinical services to women with a range of mental health needs
- Specific experience in prenatal and postpartum mental health highly desirable
- Experience working in an evidence-based model is preferred
- Experience providing group therapy
- Current or prior experience/familiarity as an Oakland or Berkeley resident a plus
- Must meet eligibility to bill for Medi-Cal services
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft programs and Google suite
