Job Summary: As a Buyer II at LogistiQ, A Division of LEWCO, you will acquire materials, supplies, and services and places purchase orders for goods required for production at the most favorable terms for the organization. You will play a vital role in developing and implementing effective strategies to optimize our supply chain, drive cost savings, and ensure the availability of high-quality products for our manufacturing operations. A Buyer II also actively trains other purchasing team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: including the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Purchases materials and supplies required for production.
- Ensure materials are purchased at a reasonable cost, within budget, and delivered on time for production.
- Oversee the purchasing logs and records to ensure accuracy and follow through.
- Utilize the ERP system to determine what purchased and manufactured parts need ordered or released from a blanket purchase order.
- Generates purchase orders to suppliers and manages open purchase orders for on-time deliveries by the vendor commitment; executes delivery pull-ins, pushouts or cancellations of demand requirements.
- Forecasts, negotiates price on high volume items and issue bid award contracts to lock in price.
- Resolves supplier issues regarding logistics, pricing, quality, and accounting.
- Maintains a supply chain that minimizes inventory while maintaining product availability.
- Maintains adequate inventories of purchased and manufactured material to satisfy the company.
- Utilize expertise in strategic sourcing to develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for conveyor products that align with our organization's goals and objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers capable of meeting our quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to achieve favorable terms, including pricing, payment terms, and contractual agreements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving opportunities through effective negotiation strategies.
- Monitor and assess supplier performance against established key performance indicators (KPIs) and take appropriate actions to address any issues or gaps. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement supplier performance improvement plans.
- Stay up to date with market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies related to conveyor products. Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential new suppliers, innovative sourcing approaches, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate and manage them effectively. Implement robust risk assessment and contingency plans to minimize disruption and ensure continuity of supply.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including engineering, manufacturing, and logistics, to understand their requirements and align sourcing strategies with their needs. Foster strong relationships with internal teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Promote and support supplier diversity initiatives and sustainable sourcing practices. Identify opportunities to enhance environmental and social sustainability within the supply chain.
- Analyze sourcing data, performance metrics, and cost-saving initiatives to generate regular reports and provide actionable insights to management. Utilize data-driven approaches to drive decision-making and optimize sourcing processes.
- Actively trains other purchasing team members.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business administration or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years related experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Work Environment:
- The work environment is pleasant, temperature controlled, professional office environment in a manufacturing setting. The employee works in an office but does have frequent interaction with the shop floor. On the shop floor, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is mixed and the air temperature fluctuates with the seasonal weather.
