What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator (Wood Framing) position at Mandere Construction?
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Wood Framing Estimator to join our construction team. The Wood Framing Estimator will play a crucial role in analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant information to accurately estimate the materials, labor, and costs required for wood framing in commercial, multi-family and residential construction projects. This role requires strong analytical abilities, a deep understanding of construction methods, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with project managers, foreman and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Analysis: Review architectural plans, engineering drawings, and project specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the wood framing requirements for each project.
2. Material Quantification: Accurately calculate the quantity of lumber, plywood, fasteners, and other materials needed for wood framing based on project specifications and take-offs.
3. Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates, including material costs, labor costs, equipment expenses, and any other relevant expenses associated with wood framing.
4. Vendor and Supplier Interaction: Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to obtain competitive pricing for materials, and maintain relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
5. Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of project estimates, including any revisions, notes, and assumptions made during the estimating process.
6. Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide timely and clear communication regarding wood framing estimates, potential cost-saving opportunities, and project-specific requirements.
7. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, construction methodologies, and material advancements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the wood framing estimation process.
Qualifications:
1. Construction Expertise: Solid understanding of wood framing techniques, construction materials, and building codes.
2. Estimation Experience: Proven experience in construction cost estimation, specifically related to wood framing in residential and commercial projects.
3. Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical and analytical abilities to interpret complex project specifications and translate them into accurate material and labor estimates.
4. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precise and comprehensive estimates.
5. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and vendors.
6. Software Proficiency: Proficient in construction estimation software and tools.
7. Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing project requirements.
8. Problem-Solving: Resourceful problem solver capable of identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
