JOB SUMMARY

Accurately and efficiently prepares and submits claims to assigned components of our Accounts Receivable to ensure maximum reimbursement, timely billing, and collection of hospital accounts pertaining to designated sections of accounts. Ensures that all statements and forms are completed accurately and comprehensively. Responsible for identifying and making any changes in our billing procedures to ensure that the hospital remains within Medicare, Medicaid, Workers’ Compensation, and special management guidelines. Effectively manages designated section of accounts in an effort to expedite the collection of hospital accounts. Responsible for meeting all collection goals as established for the designated section of accounts. Responsible for maintaining and managing the UB92 and HCFA 1500 Editor components of our computer system and ensuring that all charges are correctly posting to the correct billing form in a manner that ensures accuracy and compliance with all insurance carriers and entitlement programs. Responsible for maintaining and training office employees to properly operate electronic billing software. Works closely with all billing personnel in an effort to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims. Acts in a supervisory role providing effective and professional leadership to the office staff in coordination with the Director-Patient Financial Services. Responsibilities also include accurately calculating Medicare and Medicaid allowances and ensuring that entitlement programs and insurance carriers are reimbursing the hospital accurately, accepting patient payments, answering verbal or written inquiries, updating patient and account information, accurately processing adjustments and refunds, ensuring that all accounts reside in the proper financial class at all times, completing reports as directed, acts as a role model for office employees by presenting oneself in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner at all times. Education:

High School diploma or equivalent and/or technical school with courses in related field

Job Knowledge and Skills:-
Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, typing 40 wpm, and knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding. Experience in hospital billing preferred.
