What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Director position at Missoula Catholic Schools?
The MCS Facilities Director is responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance and custodial services at all Missoula Catholic Schools (MCS) facilities including Loyola Sacred Heart High School (LSH), St. Joseph Elementary and Middle School, the Sister Rita Mudd Activity Center, the Missoula Catholic Schools Foundation, and the LSH Sports Complex. The school Facilities Director will work closely with all custodial personnel and the school administration. This position reports to the building principals. The Facilities Director must be adept in working with assorted technologies, equipment, and cleaning materials. Someone with an understanding and working knowledge of an academic learning atmosphere is preferred.
EMPLOYMENT RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
The Facilities Director shall:
- Supervise and schedule all maintenance and custodial employees in collaboration with the building principals
- Monitor and repair, as necessary, all facets of electrical systems, plumbing systems, boilers and other heating systems
- Maintain the upkeep of all grounds, parking areas, lawns and sidewalks (including snow removal), buses, other vehicles used by staff , and all equipment used for maintenance of grounds and buildings
- Be responsible for inspections of boilers, fire suppression systems, safety equipment, alarms, backflow preventers, bus DOT inspections, etc, and accompanying reports and documentation
- Be “on call” for emergencies and issues that arise during and after hours including security calls
- Order supplies including paper products, cleaning supplies, lawn care products, ice melt, etc… for all facilities
- Obtain bids from outside contractors and ensure works is completed in a timely and professional manner
- Keep the school campus maintained and clean
- Be punctual, trustworthy, cooperative, and work without direct supervision
- Have a stable work history with positive employment recommendations
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalency of one
- Have, or have the ability to obtain, a Low Pressure Steam, Third Class Boiler License
- Be self-initiating, possess excellent organizational skills, see things that need to be done and plan for them
- Have a history free of criminal activity and no criminal record
- Maintain accurate and complete records, as required by the Diocese of Helena, State of Montana, and MCS
- Practice and support safety standards, as they relate to work related responsibilities
- Organize and maintain all building files that relate to the building/school operations
- Keep accurate and current maintenance/custodial records and inform the principals of any needs or concerns
- Anticipate upcoming student activities and school events and properly prepare the building and campus
- Treat matters of school business and student information in a confidential manner
- Call in all problems with equipment on service contracts
- Comply with other duties as assigned by the principal
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Facilities Director begins work each school day at 6:00 AM and works an eight (8) hour shift with a thirty (30) minute break. The school maintenance position is a physically demanding one. This person moves throughout the building and campus, ensuring that the building is well maintained and in good working order. This individual must efficiently sweep, clean, reach, lift, crawl, and climb, both indoors and outdoors. This person is required to use general maintenance equipment, including but not limited to saws, ladders, welding equipment, drills, vacuum cleaner, floor buffer, laundry equipment, hoses, mops, and various cleaning supplies. This person is expected to be in good physical condition, capable of working on his / her feet for several hours at a time, as well as capable of lifting and carrying fifty (50) pounds without assistance.
