Monmouth College, a selective, private, residential liberal arts college in Illinois, invites applications for a Director of Engineering to lead and develop our five-year old Engineering program. We seek a creative leader for this exciting new chapter in our long tradition of educating students for professions and for rewarding lives.
In keeping with our liberal arts mission, we educate engineers broadly, producing graduates who are outstanding technical problem solvers, who understand culture and context, and who can communicate their ideas clearly. The ideal candidate will be able to teach core mechanical and electrical engineering courses and elective courses in their area of specialty. Although all candidates with mechanical or electrical or engineering backgrounds will be considered, those with experience in advanced manufacturing, mechatronics, robotics, or automatic controls will complement our current faculty expertise. Talented and competent applicants from related fields will also be considered, including those with interest and expertise in quantum science and engineering applications.
Working in the Department of Physics and Engineering, the new faculty member will lead a program offering a B.S.E. with emphases in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, which is currently awaiting ABET approval. Our new professor will have deep interests in teaching, seize the opportunity to creatively shape an innovative program, and continue to develop professionally in ways that support undergraduate students. Teaching, industry, or post-doctoral experience is a plus. Rank is negotiable. Limited startup funds available.
