Job Summary
This position requires the ability to learn, utilize, and/or create procedures used in payroll processing, STRS/PERS retirement processing, education accounting and general ledger record keeping. This position ensures the timely preparation and maintenance of retirement reporting for Napa County Office of Education, Napa's five K-12 districts, one charter school, and Napa Valley Community College.
Performs technical and clerical accounting and financial record keeping activities involving the STRS/PERS retirement payments and the reporting process.

- Assures retirement reporting timelines are met, maintains employee retirement records, and assures
- Interprets and explains retirement policies, procedures, and technical issues.
- Accurately calculates and prepares journals for all PERS/STRS payments and ensures they are paid
- Develops spreadsheets and templates in Excel, generates a variety of computerized payroll and
- Participates in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc for the purpose of conveying and/or
- Ability to collaborate and build relationships and have good communication skills to convey personal and
- Provide support to the districts during STRS/PERS audits.
- Ability to research payroll and retirement data for the purpose of providing information, responding to
- Researches, calculates, complies, prepares and revises payroll, retirement and related accounting data
assigned payroll figures.
- Responds to record request related to payroll or retirement (e.g. present employees, past employees,
- Audit payroll and voided checks when payroll is processed and printed each month and communicate
- Ability to resolve payroll or retirement errors and process corrections timely.
