Job Description
The Breastfeeding Peer Counselor is a para-professional support person with a commitment to promote and support breastfeeding women and their families.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successfully completes Peer Counselor Training Program through the WIC Agency
- Current or former WIC participant or is from the community served by the local agency.
- Minimum one (1) year related experience or 40 hours of breastfeeding education.
- Breastfeeding experience.
- Exhibits good nurturing skills
- Bilingual – English / Spanish / French / Creole - Preferred.
- Projects enthusiasm to assist other women.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must have breastfeeding experience, preferably exclusive breastfeeding.
