The North Adams Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Superintendent.
Job Goal:To provide leadership and direction for planning, development, implementation and assessment of all aspects of the district’s preK-12 curriculum and instructional programs and to ensure alignment between student support services and student academic, SEL, and mental health needs. To act as the designee of the superintendent in the absence of the superintendent.
Supervision:Reports to the Superintendent of Schools. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws, School Committee policies and the direction of the Superintendent of Schools.
Performance Responsibilities:
a.Develops, with directors, principals, department heads, coordinators, and teachers, curriculum consistent with district philosophy and goals and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
b.Coordinates and evaluates all curriculum and instructional programs and practices and makes appropriate recommendations for modifications to ensure alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
c.Oversees student support programming to ensure alignment of student support services and student academic, social-emotional learning, and mental health needs.
d.Designs and implements, with directors, coordinators, and principals, professional development activities which address curriculum, instructional, and student support needs.
e.Oversees the administration of the statewide assessment system and the district common assessment system.
f.Coordinates the application for grants and the administration of grant funded programs to ensure alignment with district goals in curriculum, instruction, and student support.
g.Serves as a member of the district’s Administrative Team.
h.Supervises Data & Evaluation Specialists, Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Office, Student Support Services Program, Title I Program, Adult Education Program, English Language Learner Program, and 21st Century After School Programs.
i.Acts as a primary or supervising evaluator of roles as designated by the superintendent, including but not limited to: principals, district-wide directors, district-wide coordinators, and staff in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Office.
j.Assist with the district supervision and evaluation model, working jointly with the administrative team to ensure that effective strategies for improving instruction and student outcomes are implemented.
k.Performs all other duties as directed by the Superintendent.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated every two years by the Superintendent of Schools.
