Teacher-Social Studies Long-Term Substitute

North Reading High School is seeking a long-term Substitute Teacher with a DESE History license for the 2024-2025 school year. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

In this role you will work with students in grades 9-12. This is a full year long-term substitute position. 

North Reading Public School Educators first contractual day is September 3, 2024. New educators are required to attend the two-day new staff orientation scheduled for mid-August. 

Essential duties 

• Unit/lesson planning
• Direct instruction of students in Unites States History as well as Sociology
• Assess student learning
• Carry out all aspects and obligations of instructional practice 
• Be available to conference with parents and families as needed or requested
• Work closely with our Social Studies Department to ensure pacing and learning expectations are maintained
• Other duties as requested by the Building Principal 

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in History, grades 5-12
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Collaborative working demeanor
• Excellent oral and written communication skills 
• At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

Salary : $54,352 - $67,750
