We are seeking a Billing Assistant to support our Billing Manager with credentialing, contracting, client eligibility verification, and authorization processes. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with payer requirements and preventing service interruptions.
Hours: 20 hours per week, typically during 9am-5pm business hours
Location: Remote
Pay: $20-$23/hour

Responsibilities
Credentialing & Contracting:
- Assist with credentialing by ensuring healthcare providers meet payer requirements
- Submit and track credentialing applications for new and existing providers
- Maintain and update required credentialing documentation
- Assist in contracting with new payers to expand Nova Supports’ insurance network
- Stay informed on payer policies and update practice manuals as needed
- Coordinate new contract execution with the management team
- Confirm client insurance eligibility within 24 hours of a new client inquiry
- Verify benefits and patient responsibility for ABA services
- Maintain accurate documentation for each client’s coverage
- Communicate insurance eligibility and benefit details with intake staff and families
- Reverify insurance coverage annually for each client
- Submit and track pre-authorizations for assessments and ongoing service authorizations
- Ensure all required documentation is submitted per payer guidelines
- Maintain payer insurance portals and login information
- Submit renewal authorizations every six months to avoid service gaps
- Provide 30-day advance reminders to BCBAs about expiring authorizations
- Ability to learn and understand ABA terminology
- Familiarity with diagnosis and procedure coding rules (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to read and interpret payer contracts for compliance
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in web-based practice management systems (or willingness to learn)
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team
