Plumber

Description

Under the direction of the Facilities Management Team, the incumbent will maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems throughout the resort. The incumbent will safely maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations:

1. Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
2. Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
3. Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc.
4. Repair dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water consumption.
5. Receive and complete work orders.
6. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
7. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
8. Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
9. Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
10. Respond to emergency calls as needed.
11. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
12. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
13. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
14. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

Other Duties as Assigned:

1. Other duties could include working in other areas of the maintenance department to provide support during absences or shortage of staff in other trades or to perform duties associated with light construction projects.
2. Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Facility Services Department.

Equipment Used:

1. Hand and power tools; pipe bender; propane torch; welding equipment; sewer rooter; heavy equipment, including forklift, trencher, backhoe. Light truck or van.

Requirements

1. Five (5) years’ experience in plumbing field.
2. Education/Certification: NM journeyman plumber license.
3. Problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
4. Sense of urgency, when appropriate.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, receive and give instructions, and prepare work orders and reports, including via the use of a computer or other device.
6. Valid driver’s license
7. Must have reliable transportation; reliability and punctuality are critical.
8. Must be able to work flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, weekdays and holidays.
9. Ability to walk or stand and move about the resort (both indoors and outdoors) for eight or more hours per day, move on and climb a ladder, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing up to 40 pounds.
10. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
11. Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.
12. Knowledge of plumbing codes.
13. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material.
14. Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
15. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
16. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around gas lines, around fumes and toxic chemicals, outside and inside.
