ABOUT THE JOB
OL Reign was established in 2012 as a founding member of the National Women’s Soccer League. The NWSL is made up of twelve teams and is widely considered to be one of the most competitive professional soccer leagues in the world. Our players have captured the NWSL Shield three times and have made five appearances in the NWSL postseason. OL Reign plays its home matches at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington.
The Director of High Performance is responsible for creating and executing a High-Performance strategy that enhances the performance environment of all OL Reign first team and academy players. This individual will lead, integrate, and provide all high-performance requirements for player injury prevention, strengthening and conditioning programs. The Director of High Performance will work in a hyper-collaborative manner with OL Reign’s Medical team to ensure that all OL Reign first team players are performing at optimal levels. This is a full-time position based in Seattle, WA and will report to the General Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create the club’s overall high-performance strategy, policies, and procedures for OL Reign and OL Reign Academy.
- Partner with the General Manager, Head Coach, and medical staff to support and maximize the athletic potential of all first team players.
- Lead organization-wide programming (injury prevention, recovery, strength, and conditioning) and oversee the implementation of this programming.
- Responsible for analyzing and reporting on all performance data.
- Oversee development of recommendations for specific performance issues (altitude training, time zone adjustment, etc.).
- Lead all aspects of the team's athletic performance assessment and monitoring processes.
- Oversee regular physiological and biomechanical assessments.
- In collaboration with Medical team, interpret player data along with general movement observations to build detailed strength training, conditioning, and injury prevention training requirements.
- Analyze and interpret complex information to share with Technical Staff, Head Coaches, and players.
- Develop and execute fundamental sport science processes, including monitoring and management of player workloads and recovery.
- Contribute to the development and communication of corrective, rehabilitation and return-to-play programs.
- Assist in the evaluation of player movement performance and proficiency.
- Manage upkeep of performance training, sport science, and sport medicine equipment and technology.
- Develop soccer-oriented practical solutions based on individual and team data-analysis.
- Plan and deliver scientifically based optimal recovery strategies post-practice and post-game.
- Develop and execute pre-match pre-training soccer specific activations.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Masters in Exercise/Sport Physiology, Sport Science, Exercise Science or Strength, Conditioning, PHD preferred.
- Three (3) years experience in managing high performance & conditioning soccer programs at a top-tier collegiate, professional club, or international level.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Balance of theoretical and applied experiences
- Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends, and travel to all away matches
- Experience contributing to applied sports performance research and development initiatives
- Possess an NSCA - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification or European Equivalent (UKSCA (United Kingdom strength and conditioning association) and BASES (British association of sport and exercise science) Accreditation- all FB academies in England require for their sport science staff
- Ability to work independently and in a team/collaborative work environment
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Proven history of providing world-class feedback, reporting, and analysis across various projects
- Vast knowledge of medical equipment, technology, and performance aspects within soccer
- Proficient experience with Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience utilizing video editing tools, such as Final Cut Pro or Premier
COMPENSATION
This role has a base salary range between $100,000 - $120,000 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications.
