Summary: Under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator and operations department administrators, this role performs clerical duties to support all aspects of district operations. Areas of responsibility include managing daily calls related to district transportation needs, assisting with the STARS program, providing back-up support for the district substitute coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma required.
Secretarial experience, in a school setting preferred.
Ability to proofread documents, note detail, maintain accuracy, file, and manage projects.
Proficient keyboarding skills and knowledge Internet software (Google), MS Office Suite applications.
Experience using school transportation systems.
Expeirence with student management systems, Skyward, preferred.
Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
Possesses the ability to acknowledge and properly report potentially unsafe conditions.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, both in and out of the office.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to adjust schedule based on department and program needs.
An interest in working with people and a desire to develop positive relationships with all stakeholders.
Possesses the ability to assist in the planning and development of STARS activities and weekly schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in coordination with Transportation Coordinator and bus service providers to develop school bus transportation routes for all students.
Formulate, review and adjust bus routes using District student registration information as necessary.
Assist with processing route change requests for approval and communicate any changes to the bus company and buildings.
Act as liaison between the bus company, district schools, parochial schools and parents, regarding bus stop requests, complaints, etc.
Coordinate with building principals and assist in facilitating transportation needs.
Process and record requests for bus video received from administrators.
Assist with paid-rider fee billing, when applicable.
Execute duties of Transportation Coordinator in their absence.
Processes STARS program registration.
Tracks and updates daily STARS program participation / rosters.
Ensures STARS daily rosters are updated and shared in a timely manner with all schools.
Assists in the screening of applications for STARS program assistants.
Interview STARS program assistants.
Coordinates status of STARS staffing with human resources.
Assist in purchase order entry and tracking for transportation and STARS program.
Process STARS billing.
Provide coverage for STARS program, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Vision: (which may be corrected) to read small print; view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
Hearing: (which may be corrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
Speech: to be understood in face-to-face communications; to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone.
Upper Body Mobility: use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
Lower Body Mobility: to walk up and down stairs, bend at waist; stoop; prolonged sitting of more than one hour.
Strength: to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects that weigh as much as 25 pounds on a frequent basis.
Environmental Requirements: encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
Mental Requirements: read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
