As a Welcome Center employee, you'll be at the heart of our daily operations, ensuring a warm, welcoming atmosphere for all members as they begin and end their visits.
In this role, you'll have the unique opportunity to engage with our members, helping them feel connected to the Y and to one another. Responsibilities Include:
- Must be available to work weekends (some evening shift available).
- Greet and assist members as they arrive and depart, providing a friendly, helpful, and positive first impression of the Y.
- Handle member inquiries, provide information, and ensure a seamless check-in process.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Welcome Center area.
- Foster an environment that supports building relationships with members, contributing to a strong sense of community.
Qualifications:
- Ability to move freely throughout the building.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive attitude and passion for customer service.
- Flexibility in scheduling.

- Ensure Y facility is staffed and ready for members to use all stated open areas.
- WELCOME: Greet all Y members and guests with a hello, using their names whenever possible creating a warm and welcoming environment; introduce yourself.
- CONNECT: Greet all users of the Y in a friendly and helpful manner. Ask questions, share a story, introduce them to other staff and members.
- SUPPORT: Serve as a referral source to all users of the Y regarding Y programs and policies. Affirm and encourage members, wish them well.
- INVITE: Share with members opportunities to get involved and give back to the community.
- Excellent human relations skills and ability to maintain positive communication with members and staff.
- Must be able to move freely throughout the facility to respond to emergencies.
- Strong cash handling and counting skills.
- Excellent telephone manners.
Education and Formal Training:
- High School degree or equivalent.
- 1-year customer service experience preferred
- AED and CPR certified (training available within 90 days of hire through the Y)
