Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Employment Developer to connect Medi-Cal Certified Peer Support Specialists (MCPSS) with meaningful employment and volunteer opportunities. This role focuses on building partnerships with mental health and social service organizations, conducting outreach through job fairs and agency collaborations, and promoting the MCPSS Training & Placement Program. As an Employment Developer you will asisst peers with career planning, resume development, and interview preparation while tracking employment outcomes and ensuring job retention through follow-up support. The ideal candidate has experience in workforce placement, strong communication and outreach skills, and proficiency in documentation tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and secure partnerships with mental health and social service organizations employing Medi-Cal Certified Peer Support Specialists (MCPSS), including paid and volunteer opportunities.
- Conduct outreach activities, including attending job fairs, forming agency collaborations, and promoting the MCPSS Training & Placement Program at key locations (e.g., EDD offices).
- Assist peers in creating career plans, developing resumes, preparing for interviews (mock and real), and securing paid or volunteer peer support positions.
- Provide follow-up support to peers and employers, ensuring job retention and strong placement relationships.
- Meet or exceed established goals for all deliverables by successfully placing peers into positions and tracking employment outcomes.
- Maintain detailed records of outreach, employer interactions, training participation, placements, and follow-up surveys to evaluate program impact, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
Qualifications
- Must complete 80-hour Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Exam Training within 30 days of hire.
- Must be a Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist (MCPSS) or obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Prior experience in employment development, workforce placement, career counseling, outreach, or peer support services is strongly preferred.
- Strong Communication & Outreach Skills: Ability to engage, recruit, and collaborate with employers, community organizations, and peers in various settings.
- Experience assisting individuals with resume building, interview preparation, and job readiness is a plus.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed to attend job fairs, outreach events, and meet program deliverables.
- Must be technically proficient, particularly in maintaining accurate documentation of outreach, placements, and follow-ups using tools such as Smartsheets, Excel, or other tracking systems.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills.
- Lived experience with behavioral health challenges (personal or familial) and a strong understanding of peer support principles is highly desirable.

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
