Position: Medical Billing Specialist
Reports to: Billing Manager
Perlmutter Eye Center is a physician owned Ophthalmology practice committed to excellence in the Capital Region. Thanks to recent growth, we are looking for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist with Ophthalmology or Dermatology experience.
This position is located in Clifton Park, NY with the potential for remote work for ideal candidates with experience.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
These tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Insurance Eligibility
- Charge Entry
- Verification of insurance
- Obtain authorizations
- Assist with payment posting
- Credentialing new doctors
- Maintain all aspects of credentialing for current doctors
- Answer billing phone calls and inquiries
- Assist with collections
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be a decent human being
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Must have knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and medical terminology
- Prior medical billing experience required.
- 1-3 years of similar experience within a dermatology or ophthalmology medical practice is preferred.
- Credentialing experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Must be proficient with Windows-based applications
- Must be able to work independently

Environmental/Working Conditions:
- Medical office setting
Physical/Mental Demands
Work requires hand dexterity for office machine operation, stooping and bending to files and supplies, mobility handling charts and objects throughout the office, at times sitting or standing for extended periods. Must possess visual and auditory acuity in order to communicate with patients over the phone. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
