As the Grants Manager at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, you will play a key role in supporting our mission by overseeing the full cycle of the grant process. You will work closely with the Director of Grants and Donor Communications to identify new funding opportunities, write compelling grant proposals, and track and report on the progress of awarded grants.
This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented, skilled technical writer with a passion for advancing reproductive health and rights. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in researching, writing, and securing government grants, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
- Partner with the Philanthropy Research manager, identify and research potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government.
- Develop and maintain a grants calendar to track application deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal opportunities.
- Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other documents required by funders.
- Collaborate with agency staff to gather necessary information and data for proposals, ensuring alignment with funder requirements.
- Tailor proposals to meet the specific priorities and guidelines of each funder.
- Monitor and manage all grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and agency policies.
- Prepare and submit grant reports to funders, detailing project outcomes, expenditures, and impact.
- Work closely with colleagues in finance, health centers, and other departments to ensure accurate tracking of grant budgets and expenditures.
- Maintain a detailed grants tracking system to reflect the status of current proposals, reporting deadlines, and renewal opportunities.
- Regularly update colleagues on the status of grant proposals and upcoming opportunities.
- Develop metrics and reports to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the grants program.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential funders.
- Represent the agency at funder meetings, conferences, and other networking events as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent experience in philanthropy/development/fundraising/ Writing required
- 3 years of Experience in grant writing for non-profit and/or other organizations required
- 2 years of Experience in people and/or program management required
- Strong understanding of planned giving vehicles and techniques, including bequests, charitable remainder trusts, and gift annuities required
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail required
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities required
- Proficiency in grants management software and/or CRM systems in addition to MS Office required
- Demonstrated experience securing government grants required
- Knowledge of both wider nonprofit landscape and organizational landscape: awareness of funding trends, challenges, and priorities, as well as knowledge of the organization’s mission, goals, and impacts required
- Proficiency in managing/stewarding funder relationships pre- and post-grant required
- Ability to align proposals with the long-term vision of both the organization and the funder
