What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prepress & Press Operator position at Plastic Printers, Inc?

Prepress sets the foundation for successful printing production at Plastic Printers. Our production team is responsible for the creation of the products that our customers come to us for, and knowing both aspects is an exciting skill set we are looking for in this position.

We are looking for someone with the ability to learn on the job, good communication skills, and a passion for helping others grow their business. Prepress Specialists may be responsible for learning and doing the following tasks depending on the job/project going through Production:
- Ensure that the proper format, appearance, and layout of text and images is set before the full print run for the project is completed; projects may include but aren't limited to: business cards, menus, gift cards, brochures, catalogs, packaging materials or labels.
- Production of the printing plates.
- Ability to format, proof text and images submitted.
- Understanding of adjustments needing to be made so final project is of the highest quality print file to result in the objectives important to the client as the end result.
- Ability to utilize digital imaging software to transform digital or printed art into finalized art, including proof images and final layouts.
- Ability to create, edit, format and discern if a file is set up properly to print effectively for the project at hand.
- Use of files and folders to organize, coordinate and archive jobs.
- Understanding of graphic design, programs and the basics of printing like bleed and trim marks in the file.
Qualifications & Desired Experience (but not required to have if willing and capable to learn):
- Minimum 2 years in Printing environment
- Experienced Press-Operator: HPI Certifications a plus
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically In-Design & Illustrator.
- Experience using DOD equipment and other technologies to encode cards
Our position is a Monday - Friday, full-time position.
