Public Outreach and Communications Specialist - Entry Level
POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specializes in the areas of air, water, waste, environmental planning, ecological and cultural resources throughout our 45 offices located across the country and internationally.
We are seeking an Entry Level, Public Outreach and Communications Specialist to join our Environmental team. This position will be based out of our Foxborough, MA office. This is a full-time, salaried position that comes with a great benefits package.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop, strategize and execute communication plans for public outreach and community engagements
- Organize and participate in public meetings with various community groups, open houses, and stakeholders
- Coordinate meetings with agencies and other stakeholders for information gathering and dissemination
- Develop project presentation materials such as mailers, newsletters, and FAQs
- Schedule and facilitate communications meetings for project team members, including web-based video meetings
- Work across all of POWER’s business lines to assist with engineering, planning, and design efforts
- Support supervisor with long-range visioning and business planning
- Assist in developing detailed work scope/outline, budget, and schedule for completion
- Engage in and lead innovation for new technologies and processes for public involvement services
- Assist with business development and maintain relationships with new and existing clients
- Coordinate administrative and professional staff on tasks, schedule, and budget
- Maintain quality control for all deliverables
- Travel 15-20% of the time; overnight stays will be required
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Political Science, or related field – recent grads encouraged to apply
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years experience working on communications and public outreach for utility and energy-related projects
- Ability to work well with the public and interact effectively with all organizational levels, including client staff, senior management, executive leadership, board members, community leaders, and city/county/state representatives
- Strong time management skills and high attention to detail
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and facilitating web-based meeting platforms including but not limited to Zoom, Cisco WebEx, MS Teams
