Accountant

Position Summary: Responsible for all daily accounting tasks, preparing month-end entries, maintaining, and reconciling balance sheet accounts including commission accounts, and assisting in the preparations of monthly financial statements.

Key responsibilities and duties:

• Manage daily banking transactions by monitoring bank account activity.

• Prepare and record daily bank transactions to the banking system and QuickBooks.

• Prepare and maintain Bank Reconciliations.

• Prepare and record month-end journal entries and record all general ledger transactions into QuickBooks.

• Process and maintain accounts payable records, set up new vendors, and maintain W-9s.

• Assist and prepare 1099s.

• Maintain, analyze, and reconcile all accounts receivable and accounts payable including verifying, classifying, researching, and resolving account discrepancies.

• Analyze, validate, and record commissions received from Carriers.

• Analyze and validate commissions statements and payments issued to Agents.

• Work closely with Carriers and Agents to resolve any commission issues.

• Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly commission reports for management.

• Reconcile carrier and agent commission receivables and payables accounts.

• Reconcile monthly advanced and earned commission reports.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.

• Assist the Controller with ad hoc analysis and special projects needed.

Requirements:

• B.S. in Accounting

• At least 3 – 4 years’ Accounting experience

• Quick Books experience

• Proficient in Excel

• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once

• Detail-oriented, Team-oriented

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
