Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate coding for medical records, billing, and collections. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and compliance regulations. The Coding Specialist will work closely with medical staff to ensure that all coding is completed accurately and efficiently, contributing to the overall quality of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze medical records to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
  • Assign appropriate codes
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines related to medical billing and coding.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards, medical terminology, and billing practices.
  • Assist in the resolution of any discrepancies related to medical collections or billing issues.
  • Conduct regular audits of coded data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide support in training new staff on coding practices and procedures.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in medical billing and coding practices, including familiarity with ICD coding systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and its application in coding processes.
  • Experience with medical records management and collection processes is advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for accurate code assignment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
