Position Summary
The Tooling Specialist is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the various tooling components used in plastic manufacturing. This role will involve assisting in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment, as well as assisting troubleshooting issues related to tooling processes. The Tooling Specialist must have strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a thorough understanding of plastic manufacturing techniques and processes. He/ she will be to work independently and be responsible for the quality of their work.

- Responsible for the organization of inventory and monitoring inventory
- Clean the used tooling from the line technicians per the work instruction; tooling will then be inspected for proper cleanliness and dimensional compliance and stored in its proper location ready for use
- Identify and implement ideas that improve tool life and product quality
- Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors
- Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision
Qualifications
Required
- Knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings (or willingness to learn) is required
- Organizational ability and attention to detail are imperative to be successful
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow directions while working with minimal supervision
Preferred
- No specific education is required, although a high school diploma, GED or the equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
- Must have good mechanical aptitude/skills and demonstrated ability to use basic hand tools
- Ability to interpret basic tool drawings and use measurement equipment to verify dimensions
- Understand Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
- General manufacturing experience in plastics extrusion or a related field that includes quality management and basic measurement and mechanical skills are beneficial, but not required if desired skills are determined to be present in the applicant
