Established Health Care Center in Philadelphia, PA
Quality Community Health Center, a FQHC operated for 41 years, provides service at 3 locations in Philadelphia, PA managing the health and wellness of patients from infants through senior citizens. We practice medicine as a partnership between us and our patients. Currently, we are seeking an Office Associate to work within the North Philadelphia community. The ideal candidate will provide care for a panel of established patients, have experience working within inner city area and possess a commitment to working to meet the unique needs of these communities.
This individual is the first representative of QCHC that a patient comes in contact with. As a result, it is important that he /she represent in a pleasant and professional manner, as well as document and provide all information necessary for an appointment to occur. The Office Associate must pay close attention to detail. Additionally, he/she must maintain some standard of technical proficiency so that sufficient care can be carried out by the provider, patient services, & billing.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Office Associate will provide excellent customer service to QCHC patients and staff to increase productivity and maximize revenue. This front line customer service position is responsible for the efficient operation of the front desk through responding to patients needs to achieve QCHC standards of quality service. This position also helps with the facilitation of patient care throughout QCHC providers / programs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Register & verify insurance eligibility for all eligible patients
2. Refer all patients with no insurance to office manager/ patient service rep for out stationing
3. Update and add patient information to database and providers schedules
4. Fully book provider schedules and confirm appointments
5. Contact and reschedule all no-show appointments
6. Discuss and sign all eligible patients up for sliding fee
7. Update status of appointments daily
8. Assist with maintaining patient flow
9. Collect deductibles, co pays, and cash payments
10. Reconcile daily encounters and payments
11. Assist with handling of referrals & prescriptions
12. Obtain and utilize all forms required for daily operations
13. Provide front desk coverage for QCHC site
14. Pre-register all scheduled patients prior to appointment date
15. Verify insurance eligibility prior to appointment and notify patient of his/her status
16. Follow QCHC house rules and policies
17. Other duties assigned by supervisor/manager
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Must be confident public speaking in order to present information to customers in a clear and concise approach
- Highly organized and communicative with both colleagues and customers
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment that is based on innovative technology
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively to ensure that all customer's needs are being met in a timely manner
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Microsoft office assistant experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume area.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
- Associate degree in the field of medical office management or related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of experience working in a high-volume medical setting providing customer service.
- One (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office; specifically, Outlook and Word.
- One (1) year of experience using Centricity, Dentix and electronic health records Athena Health (Preferred)
