Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team in California. This hands-on role requires a strong understanding of California labor laws and HR best practices. The HR Generalist will support a wide range of HR functions, including compliance, employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, and more. Key Responsibilities:HR Operations and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including CA-specific regulations (e.g., wage and hour laws, paid sick leave, meal/rest breaks, and anti-harassment policies).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws (e.g., HIPAA, FMLA, CFRA).
- Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate employee leaves of absence in compliance with California laws, including CFRA, FMLA, PDL, and workers’ compensation.
- Conduct regular audits of HR processes, files, and systems to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on workplace policies, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints, including harassment and discrimination claims, ensuring fair and thorough resolution.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, ensuring employees feel supported and valued.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Help Head of HR and with hiring managers to coordinate full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, applicant screening, and interviewing.
- Help with the onboarding process to ensure new hires are equipped with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed.
- Assist in creating and updating job descriptions to reflect current roles and responsibilities.
Benefits and Payroll Administration
- Serve as a point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and assist with open enrollment processes.
Other Responsibilities
- Stay current on HR trends and legal updates, ensuring timely communication of relevant changes to management.
- Prepare and analyze HR metrics to support decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with special projects, such as diversity initiatives, employee engagement surveys, and HR system implementations.
Qualifications:Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of HR generalist experience, preferably in California.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of California labor laws, wage orders, and leave laws.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive employee relations issues with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
