Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a keen understanding of sushi-making techniques. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards while ensuring food safety and hygiene practices are strictly followed. We specialize in grab-and-go sushi and also sometimes have large catering orders. Great work-life balance, as you'll have weekends off and go home early on Friday every day, as we are catering towards the city workforce.
Duties
- Prepare and create a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including proper food storage and handling procedures.
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new sushi items or seasonal offerings based on availability of ingredients.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, ensuring freshness and quality at all times.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen environment.
- Provide guidance to junior kitchen staff on food handling techniques and sushi preparation methods.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
- Familiarity with various types of fish, seafood, and other ingredients used in sushi preparation.
- Experience in menu planning and meal preparation is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
