Position: Head Houseman
Department: Facilities Department
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Supervises: Supervisory duties are included in this position
Job Summary
The Head Houseman is responsible for the appearance of the Main Clubhouse, including all cleaning and maintenance phases in and around the building. He must be attentive to details in all areas and orchestrate his team to maintain high standards. The Head Houseman is also responsible for setting up rooms for events, moving and storing furniture while protecting it from being damaged, maintaining lighting, making minor repairs, painting, and other preparations for various areas for private parties and special events.
Knowledge of the following areas:
- Managing a small team
- Scheduling and frequency of regular and detailed clubhouse cleaning and other areas.
- Maintaining all of the floor surfaces and carpeting within the clubhouse,
- Proper cleaning frequency of restrooms, locker rooms, and shower areas.
- Cleaning chemical knowledge, storage, and usage
- Handling of recyclable materials according to club policy.
- Vacuum and other equipment maintenance and Repair
- Keep supplies in stock and notify the supervisor of any shortages or problems.
- Windows cleaning.
- Matching and replacing light bulbs to the proper wattage and color
- Minor furniture repairs and painting.
- Cleans and organizes storage areas and common areas.
- Assists with inventory control and security.
- Moves furniture in and out of spaces and prepares rooms for special events as requested.
- Follows work orders and completes assignments with a minimum of supervision.
- Observes, records, and reports unsafe working conditions, maintenance needs, rodent or insect infestations, and other conditions that require attention.
- Follows directives and completes assignments with a minimum of supervision.
- Attends and actively participates in staff meetings.
- Assists in maintaining clean and well-organized storage areas.
- Adheres to all Club policies, including the work/break schedule, electronic device, and uniform guidelines.
- Performs all work according to established procedures, with particular emphasis on safety.
- In climate weather treatment, all entrances and exits ( salt and snow and ice clearing)
- Avails themself, to the best of their abilities, to directly assist in the furtherance of member satisfaction. Consistently maintains a friendly, hospitable, and helpful attitude with all members, guests, and fellow employees.
- Engaging in team efforts outside of regular duties
Education:
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Practical oral and written communication skills are essential.
Experience:
- At least two years of work experience in the housekeeping/custodial field is desirable.
- Knowledge of maintaining, cleaning, and preserving various areas of the buildings, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and surfaces.
- Needs to follow safety protocol at the workplace, such as using safety signage when floors are wet, safe storage of cleaning chemicals and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) are applicable.
Physical:
- Must be able to stand for long periods.
- Frequent bending, squatting, lifting, and turning are required.
- Frequent lifting of heavy objects. (75lbs with assistance)
- Average to above-average strength is needed to perform this job function.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
