SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAMS (SLP) - NON-LICENSED INSTRUCTOR

General Information
Applications are now being accepted from qualified staff for the position of Non- Licensed Educator in the Department of Alternative Education (DAE) Summer Learning Programs (SLPs), Extended School Year (ESY), and Freedom School.
- Current SPPS employees (internal candidates) should complete this online interest form. Individuals should review the job descriptions in PeopleSoft for details about job duties, expectations, pay, etc. Responses on this form will be shared with summer leaders who are looking for staff positions. Reaching out to Summer 2025 Principals/Site Administrators to express interest in a position is recommended.

Summer Learning Programs are for identified eligible students in current grades K - 12.
Reporting Relationship
Report to Site Principal, SLP Site Leader, SLP Site Coordinator, and/or a DAE Assistant Director.
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor¿s Degree in education, specialty topics, community or parent education, recreation child development, social services, or a related field preferred.
- Two years of experience in youth and family programs, including work with diverse populations and community involvement.
- Must have experience teaching or guiding children in activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Preferred: Experience designing and implementing curriculum.
- Preferred: Knowledge of standards-based curriculum.
- Preferred: Knowledge of student assessment tools.
- Ability to navigate digital learning platforms.
- Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching and learning.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Collaborative skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations of students and families.
Conditions of Employment
- Out-of-district and noncurrent SPPS staff must complete the SPPS employment paperwork before working for SLP.
- Employment offers are for the current SLP session only.
- Non-licensed instructor appointment will be, per session, for Summer 2025 only.
- Non-licensed instructors must work and be on-site during the entire SLP session of the assigned program.
- Employment during SLP is not an extension of the school year contract.
- If hired SLP staff needs to be reduced before or at the onset of the program start, the date of application will be a deciding factor.
Responsibilities
- Work with the SLP principal and site leader to ensure the effectiveness of the program.
- Implement the SLP curriculum, teach using best instructional practices, and assess to inform instruction and learning.
- Record daily student attendance using Infinite Campus.
- Complete Continual Learning Plans (CLPs) for each student who has attended one or more times.

SPPS SLP Programs only:
- Maintain materials and complete inventory.
- Remain current on SLP website information regarding curriculum and instructional support and SLP procedural policies.
- Attend all required meetings and training.
- Other duties as assigned by the SLP site leader, site principal, and/or DAE staff.
Compensation & Hours
The following conditions apply to this position:

External Non-licensed instructors are compensated at the hourly rate of $25.00 per hour.
- SLP programs run daily, for typically 5.0 - 7.0 hours (student contact time)
- In addition to working student contact time, Non-licensed instructors will work 1.0 additional hour daily to prepare for instruction and assessments, and to collaborate.
- In addition to student program dates:
- SPPS SLP Programs ONLY: Non-licensed instructors are paid for up to 2.0 hours of orientation and 6.0 hours on set-up day at the hourly rate of pay
- Non-SPPS Programs: Non-licensed instructors are paid up to 6.0 hours on set-up day (hours depend on program length) at the hourly rate of $25.00 per hour
- No SLP on Friday, 7/4.
- Summer Learning Programs employees are paid bi-weekly.

Inclement Weather or Other Cancellations
Summer Learning Program (SLP) staff are paid only for hours worked on days the program is in session.
Other Information
Criminal Background Investigation - Criminal Background investigation will be completed as a condition of hire for all new employees and for former employees whom the District has not employed for more than six months.
