Your Role With Us:Referral Specialist- Salem Health Medical Group Neurology ClinicPrimary Functions-Obtains, verifies completes and processes all authorizations and referrals ordered. Obtains pre-authorization or renewal of authorization as needed to ensure financial reimbursement.Ensures authorization number, diagnosis and ICD-10 codes are accurately recorded in Epic.Coordinates outgoing referrals by compiling necessary documents to be sent to external specialists.Completes EMR Documentation of: Authorizations, Denials, Patient contact, Communication to patient by letter, by phone, or by MyChart.Contacts insurance companies to solve and expedite referral processing barriers. Communicates with patients to clarify and/or update insurance information, referral locations, address insurance concerns.Verifies insurance benefits, using available systems and tools (HDX, Ph Tech, etc.) to determine eligibility, and completes MSPQ, as needed. Communicates with specialty offices and insurance companies to expedite urgent referrals.Background/Expertise:Education:High School Diploma or Equivalent required.Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:Certified Health Care Access Associate preferred.Experience:One (1) year healthcare experience, in an admitting office, clinic, physician's office or insurance office performing patient registration and insurance verification required.Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Previous EPIC Prelude and Cadence experience a plus.
