What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host/Hostess position at San Diego Yacht Club?

Host
Established in 1886, the prestigious San Diego Yacht Club is a part of the incredible history of San Diego. Home to many world class sailors and Olympians, we are consistently ranked among the top 5 yacht clubs in the Nation and recently recognized as being one of the top 50 yacht clubs in the world.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
§ Monitor the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables.
§ Keep open communication with servers to ensure expectations are met.
§ Estimate wait times for guests, monitoring the guest waiting list, and ensuring that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting.
§ Responsible for answering the telephone, booking reservations, and moving tables together to accommodate large parties.
§ Must be competent of the POS system and placing TO GO orders.
§ Oversea the flow of service using rotation among servers.
§ As guests arrive, assess the dining room, if an accommodating table is available, escort the guests to the table. Upon returning to the station, hostesses will check in the table to the appropriate server.
§ Ensures that all members and guests receive proper, attentive, courteous, and expedient service in a clean and pleasant atmosphere.
§ Always wear appropriate uniforms or attire prescribed by policy and maintain personal cleanliness.
§ Responsible for opening/side-work/closing duties for shift worked, including: checking in and checking out the IPad, switching menus for the following day, closing out checks and running server report, organizing the station.
§ Familiarize yourself with the daily menu and specials.
§ Thorough knowledge of food menu and ingredients.
§ Know table numbers and seat positions in all areas of the club.
§ Greet members at host stand with a smile and a friendly demeanor.
§ Provide excellent service and attention to details for all guests throughout their dining experience and immediately correct any deficiencies noted.
§ Participate in the continuous cleaning and upkeep of the restaurant, host stand, and dining areas.
§ Notify the Manager on Duty (MOD) if you need to leave your station for any reason (this includes restroom).
§ Inform the MOD of any complaints, compliments, or issues immediately.
§ Adhere to schedules and on time attendance for all shifts.
§ To work well as a team member with the entire club staff.
§ Always have a professional and friendly tone and action
§ Operate under all guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints as set forth by the Club.
Will need ServSafe/Food Handlers etc. certificates while employed as a host, and weekday/weekend, holiday availability to be considered for this positions.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.55 per hour

- Weekends as needed
