Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a diligent and experienced Accountant with experience in property management to join our dynamic on-site team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, particularly in relation to property management. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and preparing financial statements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for external stakeholders, including investors, banks, and lending institutions in accordance with deadlines/requirements while adhering to accounting policies and procedures and maintaining effective internal controls.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements in compliance with GAAP, which includes preparing and analyzing balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and operating expense reconciliations.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with property management in a timely manner.
- Ensure the accuracy of our general ledger and subledgers through collaboration with the property management team.
- Manage our accounting calendar to meet all internal and external reporting deadlines.
- Record cash receipts to tenant ledgers daily.
- Oversee the review and approval process for accounts payable vendor invoices, coordinating the payment of crucial invoices such as real estate taxes.
- Record journal entries & accruals, reconcile income, and document prepaid rent in real estate accounting software.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Perform bank reconciliations as appropriate.
- Perform cash disbursement through wires and checks, prepares invoicing and inter-company collections, and maintains a daily cash balance.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in property accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- Effective communicator with the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Real Estate / Property Management experience required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
- Proficient with real estate/property management software highly desired (ResMan, Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks Online).
- Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office programs.
- Proven track record of managing financial operations, budgets, and audits.
Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
