Hybrid In-Office/Remote Position
DUTIES:
Research and conduct periodic compliance testing and monitoring, and draft reports on compliance practices.
Review compliance reports from business units and identify areas for additional follow-up.
Research to identify the root causes of compliance deficiencies and assist the development of corrective action plans to remediate when appropriate.
Review incoming compliance related review requests received from Credit Union business units including, but not limited to, advertising materials, webpages, and employee trainings.
Work with the Compliance team to assist in the creation of periodic tracking and monitoring reports and corrective action reports for senior management.
Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure adequate correction of identified compliance issues.
Conduct trending analyses of identified compliance issues via complaint monitoring and assist in creation of reports for Compliance management.
Assist senior management in gathering information and providing support to requests from regulators during regular examinations of the Credit Union.
Assist in the completion of a compliance risk assessment for business lines and products as assigned.
Assist the Managing Regulatory Compliance Specialist and other management staff as needed.
Maintain all necessary certifications as required for the position, including satisfying all continuing education requirements.
Assume other duties and responsibilities that are assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
4-year degree from an accredited college or university or Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree via the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP).
1year of experience in a highly regulated financial institution (preferably a credit union).
Highest level of integrity and objectivity to preserve independence.
Strong organization skills and analytical ability.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing departmental demands.
Must be able to speak and write English fluently.
Ability to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers and be cordial in all interactions with co-workers and vendors.
Dedication to SECU philosophy and work ethic.
Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by manager.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Earned an industry-standard compliance certification, such as NAFCU’s NCCO or CUNA’s CUCE, or a willingness to obtain such a designation are preferred.
Basic knowledge of the Credit Union’s core systems.
Knowledge of state and federal laws, and regulations affecting state- chartered, federally insured credit unions, banks, and other financial institutions (especially those promulgated by the National Credit Union Administration and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau), such as: TILA, RESPA, HMDA, FCRA, FDCPA, SCRA, SAFE Act, ECOA, TISA, Regulation CC, EFTA, ESIGN, CDD Rule, and UDAAP.
