Job Summary:
This individual is employed by the University and reports to the Simulation Technologist and Simulation Director. The purpose of this position is to provide technical support for all simulation operations, including preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized simulators (software and hardware), task trainers and related multimedia peripherals under the guidance of the Simulation Technologist. The Technician will also serve as simulator operator by programming, testing and running scenarios with faculty instructors, assuring that the facility and equipment are set up for teaching sessions. The Technician will work as part of the simulation team to ensure that the needs of current and prospective students are aligned with the overall mission of the College and the standards of the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Essential Functions
Under the direction of the Simulation Technologist, the Technician:
Serves as simulator operator by programing, testing and running scenarios for/with faculty and clinical instructors in all academic levels of nursing.
Operates patient simulators, audio-visual and debriefing systems.
Assures simulation labs and equipment are organized and set-up for simulation/teaching sessions.
Provides stage prop support (moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested to enhance realism to simulation scenarios.
Sets up and takes down simulation laboratory equipment and supplies involving a rapid turnover of simulation lab set up.
Maintains and troubleshoots malfunctions and contacts vendors as needed for all simulation equipment.
Collaborates with Simulation Technologist, Coordinators and Director to organize, maintain and restock simulation lab and supplies.
Conducts routine equipment maintenance and identifies and communicates the need for replacement equipment.
Maintains vital records and statistics as they pertain to simulation.
Maintains current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment.
Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework as delegated by the Simulation Technologist, Coordinator(s) and Director.
Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards.
Ensures that all equipment and spaces are secured at the end of each day.
Other Duties
Other responsibilities as determined by the Simulation Technologist, Coordinator(s), and Director.
Qualifications/Skills
Associate's Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, and database use.
Entry level technology, multimedia, audio/visual experience including knowledge of networks, virtual reality, computer security, databases, servers, decoders, audio mixers, etc.
Ability to assess, troubleshoot and fix equipment and technology failures in a timely fashion.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail.
Creativity and flexibility in designing innovative approaches to solving problems and improving processes.
Maintain confidentiality regarding job assignments and sensitive issues.
Experience in hospital, medical military environment, or any other healthcare experience is preferred.
Knowledge of audio/video equipment and software for recording, duplication, and editing.
Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology
Ability to effectively collaborate with the Simulation Director, Simulation Technologist, Coordinator(s), SON Chair, Associate Dean for the SON, and Operations to strengthen, coordinate, integrate, and implement the goals established by the program and CNBHS.

The Simulation Technician is a 12-Month Staff Role. This is a Boston based on campus position.
