We are seeking a skilled and organized Bookkeeper to join our team and support the financial operations of our school.
Job Summary
The Bookkeeper will manage the financial operations of St. John Bosco Catholic School, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with federal, state, and diocesan regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with staff, the Diocese of Green Bay, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a people person with a commitment to upholding the values of the Catholic Church.
Key Responsibilities
- Bill and Deposit Management: Process and track all bills and deposits, ensuring timely payments and accurate records.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements monthly to ensure financial accuracy.
- Payroll: Administer payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for employees.
- Budgeting: Assist in preparing and managing the school’s budget, updating expenses and revenues monthly.
- Employee Benefits: Track employee benefits in coordination with the Diocese of Green Bay, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Tax Reconciliation: Reconcile federal and state taxes for employees and the school, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Fundraising Tracking: Monitor and record fundraising revenues and expenses, ensuring proper allocation and reporting.
- Financial Platforms: Manage Donor Perfect, PayPal, and Zeffey accounts, ensuring seamless operation and accurate reporting.
- Asset and Inventory Management: Track and manage school assets and inventory, maintaining up-to-date records.
- General Financial Organization: Maintain organized financial records and ensure all documentation is accurate and accessible.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Proficiency in financial software, including QuickBooks Online. Other software used included: Donor Perfect, PayPal, and Zeffey.
- Familiarity with payroll systems, budgeting, and tax reconciliation.
- Commitment to upholding the values and teachings of the Catholic Church.
- A sense of humor and a positive attitude.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Working Conditions
- This position is primarily office-based at St. John Bosco Catholic School, with some opportunity to work remotely.
- Occasional extra hours and availability may be required during fundraising events or financial reporting deadlines.
- The role involves collaboration with school staff, the Diocese of Green Bay, and external vendors.
