This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. This temporary position is located in Raleigh, NC - Wake County. Â
 Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.77 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Revenue. This position is located at 501 N Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27604.
Provide assistance in a bond averaging study and identifying potential tax delinquencies. Research the licensing status by accessing and using databases and other automated computerized systems; Analyze annual excise taxes to compute monthly liabilities and derive bond amounts per General Statue parameters; Identify and evaluate the current status of posted bonds and compare present bond amounts with calculated statutory bond requirements. Issue notification letters to taxpayers requiring a change in bond amount; Interact with taxpayers to explain the need for bond riders to change the legal name and or bond amounts. Identify licensed vendors with no posted bond. Explain tax laws, rules, procedures and regulations to taxpayers by telephone, mail, and in person. Requires detail-oriented person able to exercise judgment in analysis of tax data. Must keep current with tax and law changes

- Work independently based on established work plan and priorities.Â
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) are required to compose letters, work with excel worksheets, and reports and work in multiple computer systems to achieve goals.
- Ability to use Department of Revenue mainframe computer systems and other systems. Â
- Public contact skills and customer service skills are required to provide taxpayer assistance via telephone, correspondence, and in person on a full time basis.
- Demonstrated skills in analyzing and interpreting data, policy and procedures, and using business and accounting principles. Â
- Must have ability to communicate policy, procedures, and NC general statutes to customers in a clear and professional manner.
