About NCEM's Hazard Mitigation Section:
The mission of North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) is to enhance North Carolina's resiliency through active collaboration, communication, and coordination of efficient and effective preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation of all natural and man-made hazards and threats. It is part of the NC Department of Public Safety (NC DPS).The primary mission of the Hazard Mitigation Section is to manage and implement efficient and effective disaster recovery programs as authorized under NC General Statute 166A and other relevant legislation.
About the Project Management Team Lead position:
The Project Management Team Lead position is engaged in the implementation and closeout of federally- and state-funded Hazard Mitigation projects such as real estate acquisition, construction or elevation of homes, installation of generators, and other recovery projects authorized by FEMA or the State of NC. The selected candidate will oversee multiple mixed-type projects in one or more counties and ensures that the scheduling, scope of work, reimbursements, and other programmatic compliance are met.
The Project Management Team Lead is required to work with contractors, local government administrators, customers, and/or other entities to ensure timely execution of projects to meet very tight periods of performance. The selected candidate is expected to visit all project sites to conduct site inspections, ensure and enforce work site safety, verify construction and project schedules, maintain pictorial records, and make adjustments to work, as required, to maintain schedules.
DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.

To qualify for this position, applicants must demonstrate ALL of the following KSAs:
-Experience in construction management and/or project management for large projects with budgets greater than $1,000,000.-Experience in managing and/or developing a team of at least three subordinates.
Management Preferences:
-Experience using project management or scheduler software.
-Knowledge of the administration of Federal Grant programs.

Military Experience
