Steelite International USA is seeking a Buyer to become an integral part of our purchasing team at the New Castle, PA office!

This is not a remote position.

Purchasing portfolio products from global partners for distribution to customers in North American market. Managing product flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum levels to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at appropriate levels. Monitoring/analyzing inventory stock levels. Replenishing inventory as needed. Responding to and escalating customer service issues as needed. Achieving customer service level and inventory goals and implementing best in class processes to drive service level improvement. Working cross functionally to gather information relevant purchase timing & quantity. Supporting national account project specifics for North American market to ensure timely deliveries.

What will I do as a Buyer?

• Analyze data, plan purchases, stock levels, min/max & safety stock levels to optimize inventory

• Maintain ideal stock levels including: cycle inventory levels, safety stock levels, replenishment quantities / minimum order quantities to balance 1) service level targets, and 2) working capital targets, always with a bias towards customer service

• Interact with product vendors to track product availability and lead times, issue purchase orders, and resolve issues

• Work closely with cross-functional departments (Foreign Trade Zone, Warehouse Management, Product Management) to ensure proper delivery of product

• Coordinate direct shipments of certain products from vendors to customers

• Work collaboratively across organization to identify issues, root causes and develop / carry out action plans

• Analyze reports to identify and resolve inventory issues proactively

• Execute performance improvement and recovery plans

• Monitor evaluate KPI’s relevant to purchasing functions, including but not limited to: supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, inventory shortage elimination, inventory turns, financial performance

• Work with manager to develop and implement standard reports and operating procedures related to forecasting, ordering and inventory management

• Support implementation of profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to offset losses and free up working capital

• Help purchasing team evolve towards forecasting responsibilities shared with / presented to broader organization

• Support publication of monthly dashboard report

• Carry out all duties within the scope of the company mission and values and to support and encourage practices to meet this end

What are the qualifications?

• Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Production/Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistic or Engineering or equivalent business experience.

• Experience required: 5 years experience in purchasing/sourcing in a strategic setting in a mid-large size organization. Low cost country purchasing experience a plus

• Specialist training: MS Office/Excel and ERP experience required. Great Plains / Microsoft AX ERP experience a plus
