About the Position
Strategic Capacity Group (SCG) is hiring a Project Coordinator or Project Assistant to join its International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) project team. This position provides comprehensive travel and logistical support for training programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) at six ILEA academies located in Roswell, New Mexico; Accra, Ghana; San Salvador, El Salvador; Gaborone, Botswana; Budapest, Hungary; and Bangkok, Thailand.
The Project Coordinator or Project Assistant will serve as the primary liaison between SCG staff, ILEA staff, U.S. Embassy personnel, and training participants, managing all aspects of SCG’s travel and logistical operations. Key responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and executing seamless travel and logistical arrangements before, during, and after ILEA training events; delivering exceptional customer service; demonstrating strong attention to detail; and proactively identifying and resolving travel and logistical challenges to ensure compliance with program schedules and government regulations. The position requires close collaboration with SCG teams to deliver tailored, turn-key solutions that address the unique needs of each ILEA and its training participants.
The Project Coordinator or Project Assistant also contributes to the development of SCG’s operational tools and frameworks, drives process improvements to enhance efficiency, and supports post-event closeout activities, such as gathering participant feedback and preparing reports on logistical outcomes and challenges. This position is critical to ensuring participants from around the world have a positive and successful experience. This role reports to the Program Manager and works closely with team members at SCG headquarters and colleagues based around the globe.
The position requires:
- Fluency in English required. Proficiency in at least one other foreign language (French, Spanish, Arabic) highly preferred.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, negotiate effectively, and collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting with colleagues across multiple time zones, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and proactively identify and implement solutions to overcome challenges.
- Willing and able to collaborate with U.S. and foreign officials from around the globe, with availability to work occasional weekends as part of a flexible schedule.
- Willing to be based at SCG’s McLean, Virginia office, with potential for limited domestic or international travel as needed.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Project Coordinator Position
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- At least two years of full-time relevant work experience. Relevant experience includes providing tactful customer service; resolving problems under pressure; coordinating travel logistics for groups; addressing travel-related emergencies; planning and delivering events, conferences, or workshops; or working with VIPs and/or with international travelers, guests, or delegations.
- Experience working in or with the U.S. government, the U.S. State Department or U.S. embassies preferred.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting with colleagues across multiple time zones, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and proactively identify and implement solutions to overcome challenges.
Project Assistant Position
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Entry level position. Some work experience, including relevant summer jobs or internships required. Relevant experience includes providing customer service and responsive problem-solving; supporting travel arrangements, logistics, or the planning and delivery of events, conferences, or workshops; conducting research and/or coordinating with vendors; or assisting and supporting VIPs and/or international travelers, guests or delegations.
- Some knowledge or experience working with the U.S. government, the U.S. State Department or U.S. embassies preferred.
Salary : $45,000 - $65,000
