Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee our accounts payable department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the full cycle of accounts payable, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of governmental accounting practices, as well as proficiency in various accounting software and financial systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the accounts payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Oversee the reconciliation of vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP standards.
- Collaborate with the human resources department to manage payroll processes and integrate HRIS systems effectively.
- Utilize accounting software, including Paychex and other financial software, to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Prepare reports on accounts payable activities for management review, highlighting trends or issues that require attention.
- Train and mentor staff in best practices for accounts payable processes and procedures.
- Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation related to accounts payable transactions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in accounts payable management or a similar role within an accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems, payroll management, and related software applications.
- Proficient in accounting software and financial management tools; experience with Paychex is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with various departments within the organization.
