Overview Of Responsibilities
Working in conjunction with the Controller, the Senior Accountant supports the application of generally accepted accounting principles and sound accounting procedures to facilitate accurate and timely monthly closing procedures, analyze financial information, develop/prepare accurate and timely financial reports and analyses, and ensure appropriate internal control procedures.

Overview Of Responsibilities
Working in conjunction with the Controller, the Senior Accountant supports the application of generally accepted accounting principles and sound accounting procedures to facilitate accurate and timely monthly closing procedures, analyze financial information, develop/prepare accurate and timely financial reports and analyses, and ensure appropriate internal control procedures.
Primary Functions
- Monthly closing procedures and analysis for four separate legal entities, including the following:
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense account journal entries by compiling and analyzing underlying account detail and activity.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and investigate/resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Development/preparation of periodic financial statements and other reports.
- Development/analysis and preparation of monthly sales and expense reports/analyses for distribution to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Development/preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, and analysis/monitoring of variances.
- Monitor the credit and collections activities for the metro NY retail business.
- Monitor the daily cash positions of the four legal entities and work in conjunction with the Controller and CFO to assess the daily cash requirements to fund the operations.
- Prepare various daily and monthly cash and liquidity reports for distribution to the President & COO, CFO and Controller.
- Assist with periodic financial, tax and commercial insurance audits.
- Assist in the evaluation, documentation, and monitoring of internal controls.
- Ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a strong understanding of accounting theory
- MBA or CPA a plus, although not required.
- Experience with ERP software (Microsoft Dynamics and Epicor BisTrack a plus)
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Highly detail oriented and organized.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties
