What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist position at SynQor?
SynQor is looking for and experienced Machinist to participate in the New Product Introduction Process (NPI). Under general supervision, the NPI Machinist performs a wide variety of skilled duties to maintain complex manufacturing, production and process equipment. Knowledge of interrelationships among various supporting processes and components is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take CAD files and detailed drawings from the Mechanical Design or Manufacturing Support Teams and producing machined parts.
- The parts made will be used to support new product development and low volume production. The parts themselves may be product components, fixtures used to assemble products, or parts for assembly equipment.
- Design and document mechanical parts and assemblies used for manufacturing processing, inspection, testing, and packaging of power supplies and power supply components to support manufacturing engineering.
- Design and produce machining fixtures and tooling to make the machined parts.
- Computer Aided Manufacturing software and direct program entry tools will be used to generate machining programs that are executed by semi and fully automated CNC machining centers. Completed parts will be checked against the supplied documentation to ensure accuracy and quality of workmanship.
- Additional responsibilities will consist of maintaining the equipment and tools in good working order, requisitioning all job materials, maintaining the schedule of work to be performed, maintaining tool cribs/supplies of standard hardware, assisting design engineers in making producible designs and training others to perform basic machining tasks.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a machine shop required
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- CNC Milling Machine programming / setup / operation on fully and semi-automated 2 ½ & 3 axis machines
- Lathe setup and operation
- Basic sheet metal forming
- Experience machining Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Plastics and occasionally Tool Steel
- Ability to design and produce work piece holding fixtures
- Modify off-the-shelf tools for specialized applications
- Experience with CAM software (CAMWorks & Prototrak preferred)
- Additional Software: CREO preferred, Solidworks acceptable
- Ability to create job related documentation
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and how to reduce setup times
- Strong computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint)
