The main function of a Desktop Support Analyst is to provide technical assistance to computer system users. This role involves answering questions and resolving computer problems for clients in person, via telephone, or from a remote location.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
- Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
- Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems, and remedial actions taken, or installation activities.
- Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.
- Diagnose, analyze, and resolve issues across the company.
- Provide first-level support to end-user devices and peripherals (PCs, laptops, tablets, Android devices, printers, scanners, etc.).
- Support the network infrastructure.
- Perform device replacements on a routine schedule according to warranty.
- Deploy new technology and devices to users and on the shop floor.
- Accurately document work processes.
- Utilize ITSM software for work performed.
- Be a technical resource, provide planning, and drive execution for special projects while still performing current job duties.
- Assist in communication to end-users regarding changes, upgrades, or planned outages.
- Strictly follow guidance and regulations provided by Information Security.
- Maintain strong attention to detail and ensure safety in the workplace.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage one's time.
- Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.
- Knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software, and internet directory services software.
- Strong experience supporting Windows Operating Systems, Android Devices, Configuration Manager, Active Directory, and corporate networks.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, and multiple OS levels including Android.
- Knowledge of DHCP, Windows Deployment, Microsoft Server Administration, Apple, and Linux.
- Experience with manufacturing and warehouse systems.
- Ability to coach junior staff.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a comparable program required.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a comparable program preferred.
- 5 years of work experience providing support in a related field.
