The Arc of Palm Beach County is a dynamic, community-based nonprofit serving and advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our dedicated and caring team members provide support that helps over 3,500 children, teens, and adults to live, learn, work, and thrive.
Position Summary:
The Arc seeks a passionate and dynamic Development Director to join our mission-driven team. In this role, you will build and maintain impactful relationships with local businesses and stakeholders to further the organization's advancement goals. The Development Director will create, produce, and manage approximately 8-10 annual events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work alongside the CAO to implement events and programming that align with the organization's short- and long-term fundraising goals.
- Identify and cultivate corporate and foundation sponsors.
- Develop and manage event work plans.
- Maintain event budgets and monthly reconciliations.
- Event preparation and logistics, including décor, entertainment, ticketing, stakeholder relations, and onsite event
- Solicit and collect auction items.
- Upload and track auction items with our third-party vendor.
- Set up committee and co-chair meetings.
- Attend above meetings, record meeting details, and prepare a recap
- Prepare weekly recap of event overview for team and co-chairs.
- Manage guest lists, seating charts, and name tags.
- Enter all event guests into CRM on a timely basis.
- Work with vendors before events and during set-up and break-down
- While this position has no direct reports, the Development Director leads project teams comprised of coworkers and volunteers.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase donations.
- Identify and support the cultivation of potential major donors.
- Manage a database of donor information.
- Plan and coordinate special fundraising events.
- Other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks with strong attention to detail and set priorities as required
- Ability to travel throughout Palm Beach County to provide services and attend meetings as necessary
- Ability to meet drug-free workplace and other required background checks
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of related experience
- Experience in sales, marketing or fundraising
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to foster strong relationships
- Research and reporting skills
- Current Florida driver's license and auto insurance
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
- The person in this position must occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, machinery, and other job-related items.
