Job Description
This position will assist in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Institutional Research team at BYU-Pathway Worldwide, which include data analysis, reporting, qualitative research, and quantitative research. As members of a team of researchers and analysts, student employees will gain experience providing research and data analytics support to a rapidly growing, global organization. This is a part-time position, not to exceed 20 hours per week, scheduled during regular business hours.
Institutional Research student employees provide assistance with reporting and research projects that are used to drive decision making at BYU-Pathway Worldwide and partner institutions. This assistance includes data querying, cleaning, and reporting, as well as using inferential statistics and/or machine learning to improve existing analyses and develop new analyses. Other analysis, reporting, and research methods may also be utilized as needed.

Responsibilities
- Query and report data in response to requests from other BYU-Pathway Worldwide Departments and partner institutions
- Clean and ingest data from various survey instruments and other sources for use in research projects
- Conduct exploratory data analyses
- Review and identify potential improvements to existing research products, particularly statistical models
- Research, identify, assess, and incorporate new data sources into various research projects
- Develop new research products, using methods from statistical inference and/or machine learning
- Assist in coordinating, planning, and reviewing a variety of research instruments, including survey data
- Other duties as assigned
- Currently pursuing a degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Data Engineering, or other similar fields with a strong quantitative component. Master’s degree students or upperclassmen (Junior or Senior year) bachelor’s degree students preferred
- Must be proficient in R and Excel
- Proficiency in SQL strongly preferred
- Knowledge of advanced quantitative methods such as multivariate regression analysis or machine learning
- Excels at communication, teamwork, research, and problem solving
